PsychoFest 2009 in Valparaiso, Chile

If anyone reading this has ever been to Valparaiso, Chile then they know how special this assignment became to me.
Valparaiso, Chile is a famous port city south of Santiago, the capital of Chile. It was Pablo Neruda’s home for a while as well.
While working for VIA X during the month of February, I found out about a Pyschobilly Festival that was going to be the first of its kind in in Chile, South America.
I felt that VIA X should cover this historic event. I talked to the right editors who then talked to the right people (thats how things work in S.America) and I was assigned by VIA X to cover PsychoFest 2009!
The host band, Voodoo Zombie was around so I caught a ride down to the festival in their tour van.

After sorting out a few complicated matters, we went to the airport to pick up the Brazilian headlining band the Sick, Sick, Sinners . Unfortunately they missed their flight. We decided it was necessary to return to the bands place in Santiago and eat some soup...

After some soup, we packed the van up again and went to pick to up the Sick, Sick, Sinners at the Santiago International Airport...around midnight. They arrived in many pieces so gathered them up and headed down south to Valparaiso, Chile. By 2am we were walking down the streets of Valpariso, Chile.

Voodoo Zombie and the Sick, Sick, Sinners had met before in California at a festival they both played a Psychobilly Festival. The Sick, Sick, Sinners are a famous Psychobilly band that used to be called Os Catalepticos. This Brazilian band is legendary!

Upon arrival in Valparaiso we met up with our local contact who took us to see the venue and grab a bite to eat. We ate at the famous Jota Cruz. At hota cruz they only serve one type of food. Chorrillana. If you ever visit Valparaiso, Chile you MUST eat a Chorrillana. It is the single greatest meal you can ever have.

VIA X ran my shots on Tv the next day. I gave the bands copies and posted the rest on my Flickr page.
