Comunidad para Baja California

After returning from my six month tour in South America during the summer of 2009 I was approached with the opportunity to work with the non-profit Comunidad para Baja California.

Comunidad para Baja California is a Los Gatos, California based Non-Profit that helps the indigenous tribes of Baja California, Mexico. These tribes are located roughly an hour or so in-land from Ensenadad.

I got to fly down to Ensenadad, Mexico with the Comunidad’s premier pilot, Bill Rush. We flew down from San Jose’s Reed Hill View airport on a Cessna 182. We landed on the Mexican military base in Ensenadad.
We spent three days with the indigenous tribes of Ensenadad, Mexico. We participated in Comunidad para Baja California’s scholarship program for the youth of these tribes.

Since the mexican government only pays for education up to the sixth grade for these children. Comunidad para Baja California has raised the funds to allow these children to continue their education. You can learn more about their educational programs here.
